Journal Topics: December 11, 2008

My first topic today is Reflect about the events that happened in your life one Christmas Eve.
Well, every Christmas Eve, it is a tradition in my family to go to the childrens mass at my church, and then after, the whole family would go out to dinner. After dinner, we would go to my Aunt's house, and we would open presents from the family. Every year, even since I was little, my pop pop dressed up like Santa Clause and we got a surprise visit from him. One year, I ruined it for myself and walked into the t.v. room in my nana's house and saw the costume sitting on the couch. I was little, so I really didn't know what it was until my nana yelled at me and said I ruined it for myself. And I said ruined what? Then she told me that my pop pop was dressed up like santa, and I told her that I didn't know that, so my nana actually ruined it for me...
Second Topic: What are your Top 5 Favorite Christmas Movies and why?
My top five Christmas movies are:
1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
2. Elf
3. The Polar Express
4. The Santa Clause 1, 2 and 3
5. White Christmas
(Okay, well I cannot pick 5, so I will add more.)
6. Home Alone
7. Nightmare Before Christmas
8. The Nutcracker
9. All the Rudolph movies
10. Frosty the Snowman
How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of my favorite movies, especially with the version when Jim Carey is the Grinch. I love all the characters in it and how the movie is all acted out. My favorite part is when the Grinch's heart actually turns warm, and he turns into being nice. Elf is another really good movie, and I love Will Farell. He fit the part very well. The Polar Express is my all time favorite movie! It really helps children to believe in Santa! The Santa Clause 1, 2 and 3 are all hilarious movies, and if you want a laugh, watch these movies. I have been watching White Christmas with my nana every year since I was 3. It has become a movie I watch alot now. Home Alone is a really funny movie. This movie will also make you pee your pants. The Nightmare Before Christmas is so cool. I love how they mixed Halloween and Christmas into one movie. The Nutcracker is not really a movie, but more of a play put on by people. I have been a ballerina since I was 2 years old, and I just love ballet. That is why I love to watch the Nutcracker ballet. There are so many Rudolph movies, and that is why I am just going to say what I have to say in general. I LOVE RUDOLPH! the end. Frosty the Snowman, three words.... I LOVE FROSTY!! I think I wrote enough for today. Bye :-)

Wow, I don't think that I could choose just five christmas movies. I mean, there are so many! I'd have to say that A Christmas Carol is my favorite though. Its a classic! The scene where the little boy licks the frost-covered pole on a dare is beyond legendary. There are facebook bumperstickers made about that scene!
(Your grandma should have left you in ignorance, or told you that santa had to go to the bathroom or something. You're right, she did ruin it for you.)

Christmas movies are nostalgic to me. I feel so small watching even the most childish of innocent movies of noel. I really could never pick a favorite. There's so many that I even forgot the titles of and haven't even seen since I was a youngster. I don't quite celebrate Christmas, I celebrate Yule instead. However, they're very similar. There's not a spot of religion within me, so some movies are sort of off setting to me. Also, this is sort of strange, Beauty and the Beast always reminds me of Christmas for whatever reason.

I remember seeing "The Polar Express" in Imax With my Grandma for... Hanukkah. I know, Its weird. Anyway, It was actually pretty good, especially the bum who makes coffee and somehow sleeps under a train without any damage to his hearing. I also remember that Toms Hanks did the voice of EVERY character. Oh oh oh, and that sweet skiing scene with the bum. oh oh oh! And that sweet scene where the train goes all Roller coaster and Tom hanks is like "Hold on TIGHTLYYYYY!" Yeah. Good film. Ive seen "The Grinch" like, twice, but I know every line thanks to Logan. Seriously, All he does is quote that movie. Whatever, its funny. And They really captured the christmas feeling. My favorite holiday movie is a mix of "A Muppets Christmas Carol," "Eight Crazy Nights," And "A Christmas story"

I ruined it for myself. i was too smart. =P I couldn't imagine how Santa could fly all over the world in one night when it took me 8 hours to cross the Atlantic.
My favorite movies out of the ones you mentioned are Elf and Home Alone. Buddy is sooo funny! I have a lot of those quotes memorized, they're really great. Zooey Deschanel is one of my favorite actresses and she was brilliant in this role. I love the Home Alones and I watch them all the time in Spain (I know all the quotes in spanish). Mccauley Culkin is fantastic.

I have to comment this because Elf is one of the funniest movies. I love Will Farrell. He is absolutely hilarious. In elf he play buddy so well. The snowball fight scene is so funny. It is so gross how he eats syrup on his spaghetti. My sister tried it and told me it "actually wasn't that bad." Yuck. I'm not usually one for christmas movies. I love how you picked Home Alone. I have never thought of that as a "christmas" movie, but now that I think about it I guess it is. I still love watching that movie. He's like a little genius with all the booby traps he sets up. Good picks. =]

I see that the Rudolph movies are on your list.=)
I love those.
I watched the first one with the kids I babysit yesterday, actually.
It brought back lots of nostalgia from when I was a kid.
